How are 'regular' tinctures made?
Most tinctures sold are not true extracts. They are in many cases simply infusions. This means that they are merely solvents (a combination of water and alcohol) infused with herbs. They do not undergo a true extraction and condensation process, as alcohol extraction and condensation equipment is expensive and the process must be carefully controlled due to the flammability of alcohol, among other things. This infusion methodology means lower upfront investment, lower operating costs, but also significantly weaker end products.
Why are Dragon Drops better?
There are two primary natural solvents in this world: water and alcohol. The active compounds of the plants are usually either water soluble or alcohol soluble. However, the best method for full spectrum extraction is to extract plants using both water and alcohol. This is how Dragon Drops are made.
Dragon Drops formulations undergo two rounds of water extraction and one round of alcohol extraction. The extracted materials from all three rounds are then combined and condensed by removing most of the solvents, reducing the volume by 95%. Therefore, what is contained in Dragon Drops tinctures is the essence of the essence of the 100% natural ingredient. It has the best of both worlds: water soluble compounds and alcohol soluble compounds.
- With normal tinctures, what goes into the infusion tank is what comes out. About a 1:1 ratio of solvents to finished product.
- For every milliliter of Dragon Drops, approximately 20ml of solvents are used. An approximate ratio of 20:1 solvents to finished product.
