This alcohol-free tincture is made from propolis, an important bee product. The use of propolis dates back thousands of years to the time of Aristotle.
Nature's Answer Propolis Extract contains an extract of a bee product called propolis. This is a natural substance that honey bees produce from resins of trees and shrubs, bee-own enzymes from the head glands and beeswax. It is a very important substance in the beehive. Scientists believe that bees use this resin-rich substance to protect the bee colony and keep it healthy. We humans can also use this substance, but for efficient absorption, the ingredients from this bee product must first be released. Nature's Answer therefore processes this natural product into an extract. This Propolis Extract contains the active ingredients from this important bee product, easy to take in this alcohol-free formula.
Propolis as an active substance
Honeybees make propolis from various substances. The main ingredient is resins from trees and plants. Bees collect the resins throughout the entire flying season. In the beehive, the bees mix the resins with their own enzymes and beeswax. This creates a flexible and malleable substance, with which bees seal every crack and hole in the beehive to protect themselves from external influences, such as draught, moisture and cold. Bees also apply dust to the beehive around the flight hole and in the brood cells for disinfection. Propolis is, as it were, the protector of the beehive and, translated from Ancient Greek, therefore means for the city.
The use of propolis goes back thousands of years. All classical physicians, including Aristotle, Hippocrates and Pliny the Elder, used bee products. This is also evidenced by the famous statement of Pliny the Elder: "Ubi apis ibi salus", or where there are bees there is health. We are currently rediscovering the power of bee products. And interest has also been aroused within science. Every day several scientific articles on propolis published.
Propylene glycol as a solvent
In addition to propolis, this extract contains propylene glycol of plant origin. The propylene glycol is used as a solvent to dissolve the active ingredients from this resinous natural product in the extract. It is an organic compound from the alcohol group. However, unlike ethanol (drinking alcohol), it has no adverse effect on human health.
