All about the (unknown) effects of magnesium

Alles over magnesium

Why is magnesium so popular?

Magnesium is probably the most well-known mineral that we know and use daily. Not surprising, because it plays a role in the most important biological processes in nature and in our body. This powerful mineral is therefore one of the most common elements in nature. This is also the case in our body. It is found in the blood, bones and cells, among other things. Because of this, it fulfils many important functions throughout the body. Magnesium is therefore necessary to be healthy, there is no doubt about that.

These are the main functions of Magnesium:

  • Helps with healthy cell function [SOURCE]
  • Ensures healthy, strong and supple muscles [SOURCE]
  • Has an effect on reducing fatigue [SOURCE]
  • Ensures a properly functioning nervous system [SOURCE]
  • Help build body protein [SOURCE]
  • Ensures balance in water and mineral balance [SOURCE]
  • Releases energy from food [SOURCE]

Where do we get Magnesium from?

We are fortunate that magnesium can be found everywhere in nature and therefore also in our food. The healthiest sources of magnesium are spinach, banana, dark chocolate and avocado. In addition, it is found in whole grain products. Although it is not advisable to eat too much of this, because grain products also contain a lot of phosphorus and phytic acid. Both substances cause poor absorption of magnesium.

The absorption of magnesium from food varies from 20 to 60%. This depends on the amount in the food. Oddly enough, the more magnesium there is in your food, the lower the percentage that your body absorbs. In addition, magnesium is poorly absorbed in people with intestinal problems. Another reason for a magnesium deficiency is the excessive amount of calcium we ingest through food. The required calcium and magnesium ratio (2:1) is often disturbed. The magnesium supply is then depleted.

Another reason for a deficiency is that magnesium absorption becomes poorer as we age [SOURCE]. It is therefore common for people to have a magnesium deficiency. The WHO reports that this is the case for at least 20% of the Western population. The consequences of a magnesium deficiency are quite serious, which is why magnesium supplementation can never do any harm.

Balance Magnesium, Calcium, D3 and K2

Many people know the functions of magnesium. For example, it is often used against fatigue or muscle cramps. The lesser known effect it has is the interaction with calcium. The two minerals need each other for everyone's proper functioning in the body. They are therefore interchangeable. If you take a lot of calcium, magnesium is also used. An intake of calcium must therefore be accompanied by sufficient magnesium, otherwise the amount of magnesium will be depleted.

In recent years it has become increasingly clear that magnesium also influences the functioning of vitamin D [SOURCE]. It supports the functioning of the vitamin D enzymes, which regulate both the activation and breakdown of vitamin D. This makes it all the more interesting, because vitamin D ensures the absorption of calcium from our food [SOURCE] Are you starting to see the connections? Often doctors and therapists recommend combining vitamin D3 with calcium. However, this again causes a magnesium deficiency because too much calcium is absorbed.

What should also not be underestimated is that when calcium is absorbed by vitamin D, it does not reach its correct destination without vitamin KThis vitamin ensures that calcium actually ends up in the skeleton and does not calcify in the wrong tissues [SOURCE]. Arteriosclerosis and even heart problems are the result. So it is the combination of vitamin D, K and magnesium that ensures that calcium can do its job and does not cause problems [SOURCE].

Liposomal Magnesium

Our Liposomal Magnesium contains only pure ingredients. This dietary supplement has an unprecedentedly high biological availability due to the use of natural fatty substances, also called lipids. The lipids form a liposome sphere around the magnesium, which optimally protects the magnesium during transport through the body. As a result, in contrast to many other magnesium supplements, there is much less loss and conversion of substances during transport.

Nano Magnesium

Nano Magnesium from The Health Factory is a revolutionary new form of magnesium. One nanometer is no less than one millionth of a millimeter. These ultra-small particles make the action and effect of magnesium particularly powerful. The smaller the magnesium particles, the brighter the color and therefore the better it works. The magnesium particles are also absorbed more quickly and completely by the skin and mucous membranes.
