The chaga (botanical: Inonotus obliquus) is a mushroom, also called a fungus body. In Dutch, this mushroom is called birch weather fungus. The mushroom also likes to grow as a parasite on old, weakened birch trees. In the wild, it is most commonly found in vast birch forests in the cold regions of the northern hemisphere. The mushroom is not only found in Northern Asia and Northern Europe, but also in large forests in America, for example. However, the most valuable chaga mushrooms are found in areas where harsh winter conditions prevail and the temperature drops below -40 degrees Celsius. Analyses show that these conditions produce the most potent chaga mushrooms. This so-called supergrade or premium chaga is collected in Russian Siberia. This chaga is therefore also called Siberian chaga.</p> <p>The Siberian chaga in this product also comes from Russian Siberia.
