This product is based on one of the most popular and valued herbs in Asian herbalism. Not without reason!
He Shou Wu (also known by the Chinese name Fo-Ti) is one of the most popular and valued Jing tonics in Asian herbalism. The name literally means old black-haired. This is the root of the plant Polygonum multiflorum. In Dutch, the plant is also called many-flowered pigweed. This plant grows in the mountains of Central and Southern China. Producer Dragon Herbs uses only high-quality cultivated roots for this product, which are prepared in the correct manner. No chemicals are used during the cultivation and production process. This Chinese herbal formula is therefore of the highest quality in the world.
He Shou Wu: Prepared root of Polygonum multiflorum
In Chinese, He Shou Wu specifically refers to the prepared root of the Polygonum multiflorum plant. Properly preparing the root is important for internal use. Unprepared, the root contains only a few strengthening effects and can even cause unintended side effects. Dragon Herbs prepares the root in the traditional way. The freshly harvested roots are cut and steamed in a 10:1 ratio in black bean soup. After steaming, the roots are dried and ground into powder. This powder is the basis of Dragon Herbs capsules. No other additives or chemicals are used!
Active Ingredients in He Shou Wu from Dragon Herbs
The roots grow for 8 years in the mountains of China before they are collected for this product. They therefore have plenty of time to grow into mature specimens rich in active substances. More than 100 different substances have already been demonstrated in the root of Polygonum multiflorum. The primary active ingredient is THSG, or tetrahydroxystilbene-2-O-β-D-glycoside (source). This substance resembles the better-known substance resveratrol. The other known active ingredients include quinones and flavonoids. In addition, this root contains a high level of zinc, of about 42 milligrams per 100 grams.
Besides He Shou Wu, there is also the goji berry an important Jing tonic in traditional Chinese medicine.
