About the book: Ancestral Plants begins a multi-volume series aimed at helping people understand the true value of wild plants. Through discussions of the edible, medicinal and utilitarian properties of regional flora, it will motivate and develop people's confidence to live and heal healthily through natural plants. More than 100 species are detailed in the 217 pages with 254 colour images. Although this book is written about plants from the Northeast, dozens of plants can be found throughout North America and in parts of Europe (or have similar species with similar collection and processing methods).

Ancestral Plants is published by a non-profit organisation called Anaskimin (the Penobscot native word for "acorn"), whose goal is to protect open and wild spaces through public and private education. Not only is this book the most useful and user-friendly guide on the subject, but by buying it, you are directly supporting the conservation of remaining wild places in a radical new way by teaching people how to care for and interact with wild nature.
